University of Minho (UMinho)

Partner skills

The research group from UMINHO has expertise on assessment of existing structures; big data and data fusion algorithms; performance predictive models, including risk-based models; optimization and decision-making framework; risk analysis for multi-hazards; infrastructure asset management.

Transnational experience

The research group from UMINHO is coordinating COST Action TU1406 and INTERREG SUDOE HeritageCare, on existing structures assessment. It is also partner of SAFEWAY, a H2020-MG7.1 project focused on infrastructure resilience to extreme events. All these projects comprise transnational case studies.

Role in the project

The research group from UMINHO will coordinate this project, which includes the preparation, coordination, dissemination and capitalization. Additionally, it will have a technical contribution on development of a risk & resilience-based decision-making framework for transportation infrastructures.

Activities to implement in the project

The research group from UMINHO is going to implement risk-based predictive models, risk mitigation measures, and a decision-making framework for short, medium and long-term planning. As coordinator, is going to implement rules for project preparation, coordination, dissemination and capitalization. With respect to the role of coordinator, UMINHO delineated a risk matrix considering two different levels of probability (high and low) and two levels of consequence (high and low) in order to pinpoint the possible risks concerning the Project. Moreover, a risk management plan has been addressed by delineating the mitigation measures associated to each level of risk and will be implemented by the coordinator.
